Crane Beach Dune Trail
Join me on this winter walk through the dunes of Crane beach in Ipswich, MA. This journey spawned as an attempt to spot a snowy owl. While we did not see any on our trip, maybe you will spot one in the 360 photos!
This being my first winter hike, I did not know what to expect. To our luck, the trail was well trodden. In only a few areas did my feet sink into the snow. The greatest depth was only 12 inches. Overall the walk was easy and the lack of wind made for a comfortable time.
During our journey we came across other hikers, as well as an eagle and some small birds. A deer was briefly spotted too. The dunes amongst the untouched snowscape provided an interesting visual contrast. A beach in the New England winter may not sound appealing to most. Many may be surprised with how good a time can still be had.
